Sarah Jo Meek Garner Taylor, 88, of Jacksonville, died Monday, October 27, 2008 at Jacksonville Convalescent Center. She was born March 26, 1920, near Selmer, TN., the daughter of Otto and Clara Mae Horton Meek. She married Herbert Garner and they divorced. She later married Robert W. Taylor, Sr. and he preceded her in death on October 16, 2006.
She is survived by one daughter, Pat L. (William) Hinegardner of Manchester; one stepson, Robert W. (Mary) Taylor, Jr. and one stepdaughter, Barbara (Craig) Bridgeman, both of Colorado Springs, CO.; one half-brother, Clark Edward (Delores) Smith of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Bret (Shelly) Hinegardner of Manchester, Tracy L. (Greg) Severns of Bloomington, Terri Jo (David) Englund of Morton Grove, Tammy Sue (Allan) Casper of Jerome and Robbie L. Garner of McLean, VA.; four step grandchildren, Aaron and Jerard Bridgeman, Derek Taylor and Stacie Walton, all of Colorado Springs, CO.; six great-grandchildren; and several special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert L. Garner (surviving wife, Louise of Divernon).
Sarah Jo attended Lighthouse Community Church and was employed for thirty years with the Roodhouse Envelope Co., until retiring in 1984. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, traveling and taking the “river road”.
