We are sad to announce the death of Sarah Jamie Kelly. Jamie passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at the age of 49. She began life in Jacksonville, Arkansas on August 22, 1973. She was born to Bradley and Sandra (Deckert) Blakeway, and lived in Arkansas with them until they divorced in 1981. She and her mother moved to Denver in 1984. Her mother remarried in 1991 to George Erickson. George was a loving stepfather to her until her death.
Jamie married Brandon Kelly on June 23, 2005. Their son, Dalton Michael Kelly was born on February 19, 2009. Dalton was the light of her life. Jamie and Brandon divorced in 2017. Dalton divided his time between his mom and dad and was very much loved by both of them.
Jamie had a passion for animals, specifically her dogs, cats and horses. She loved nature and travel, and had traveled much of the world. She also had a passion for helping anyone in need. She had a big heart for children.
Jamie graduated from Colorado’s Finest Alternative High School in 1991. She earned her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver in 1995. She went on the earn her Master of Arts in Special Education from UCD in 1998, and a Specialist in Education in School Psychology from UCD in 2000. Jamie was credentialed in Early Childhood Education after completing her Masters and Specialist Degrees. She worked in several school districts before her long time employment with the Jefferson County School District, where she served as school psychologist in grades 1 through 6. Jamie loved her work helping special needs children and their families.
Jamie is preceded in death by her grandparents, Elden and Imogene Blakeway and Lewis and Ida Deckert, and her Aunts Cherryl Blakeway and Marjorie Kramer. She is survived by her son Dalton, her parents Sandra and George Erickson and Bradley Blakeway, her sister Rebecca (James) Rago and her nieces, Chrystina (William) Ellermeyer, Jessica (Matthew) Crotty, and her nephew Matthew Rago, as well as her great niece, Grace Crotty, and great nephew William Ellermeyer.
