Sarah J. “Sally” Hester, 85, formerly of Nisbet Heights, died Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at Valley View Nursing Center after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
Sally was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Vernon L. Hester, March 22, 2010.
Sally was a licensed cosmetologist and operated Sally’s Beauty Shop in Duboistown from 1956 to 1963. She worked at Divine Providence Hospital for many years and retired in 1994 from Dr. Vasudevan’s office. She was a life member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, a member and past president of the Ladies Aux. of VFW Post 7863, Duboistown, was an avid quilter and enjoyed reading, and going to Ocean City, MD with her family and two best friends, Jo Ruch and AnnaMarie Graham.
Born September 4, 1926 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Willis “Mac” and Sarah Ott MacMichael.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia (William) Hess of Unityville; grandchildren, Sara and Andrew Jordan of Unityville, Eric and Kelly Hess of Shenandoah and Mitchell and Nathan Hans of Hughesville; and great-grandchildren, Sydney and Jackson Jordan and Morgan.
