Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother Sarah Etta Monroe Harris passed into God’s gentle hands on Saturday August 22nd, 2015.
At the age of 80, Sarah lived a life of love, raising and instilling a strong sense of family and dedication into those she loved and cherished. With a gift of stories, Sarah could eloquently capture her past experiences, spinning her life into captivating tales. She was born in Rockingham, NC, February 24th, 1935, to Rushie Cox and James Daniel Monroe. Growing up with four brothers and one sister, Buddy, Ray, Levine, Perry, and Sharon, Sarah’s position as the eldest helped her understand the importance of strength in leading a family. She devoted her career to the care of the elderly within Union County and was married forty years to beloved (late) Frank Robert Harris, Senior. Her devotion to her family is unmatched by most.
Sarah is survived by her children, Etta, Bob, Frank, Jim, Sandi, and Terry, as well as fifteen grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
