Sarah E. Links, 70, of St. Augustine, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family, on Sunday, November 11, 2018, 6:20 PM, at OSF Richard Owens Hospice House, Peoria. Sarah was born on January 24, 1948 in Galesburg. She was the daughter of Edward and Catherine (O’Connor) Kennedy.
She married Victor N. Links on June 26, 1970 in Rock Island. They celebrated 33 years of marriage before his passing on November 14, 2003. Sarah is survived by a daughter, Amy Thomason of Carterville, Ga; two sisters, Martha Riggs and Mary Kennedy, both of Galesburg; a brother, Patrick (Lucille) Kennedy of Galesburg; a nephew whom she loved as her own son, Adam Gilbert of Abingdon; two stepsons, Kirt Links of Galesburg and Pat Links of Bloomington; two stepgrandchildren, Scott Links and Sarah Links; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor; a brother, Michael Kennedy; and a sister, Shelia Young. Sarah graduated from Costa Catholic Schools. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She worked at Gale Products as an administrative assistant and then later as a custodian for the Abingdon-Avon School District for 18 years, retiring after the 2017-2018 school year. Sarah loved her horses and teaching her nieces and nephews how to ride. She also loved to dance. Sarah had a big heart for animals and children; and was loved greatly by her nieces, nephews, family and friends.
