Sarah Donald Gully, a resident of Leroy, answered the Master’s call Monday morning, May 25, 2020, at her residence. Born July 2, 1922 to Peter Donald and Mary Yelder Donald, she was 97 years of age.
Sarah was a member of Good Stone AME Zion Church, where she served as a deaconess and sang in the choir before failing health. She enjoyed cooking, quilting and attending the Wagarville Nutrition Center daily.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Matthew Gully; granddaughter, Yolanta Pugh; step-grandson, Cleveland Gully; three sisters, Blanche Donald Moore, Louise Donald and Sophie Mae Ervin; one brother, John Frank Donald; and son-in-law, Theodore Pugh.
Left to cherish her memories are her six children, Julia Mae Pugh of Winn, Jim (Jean) Gully, Elizabeth (Jimmie) King, Florence (Jimmie) Simon and Michael (Louise) Gully, all of Leroy, and Constance (Robert) Jones of Fayetteville, N.C.; special family friends, loved as a son and a daughter, Evan Wiggins of St. Stephens and Mary McBride of Leroy; 12 grandchildren, Sharon Pugh, Gary (Katherine) Pugh, Crystal (Karius) Cross, Jonathan (Kim) Pugh, Lee Matthew King, Shuana Hopkins, Matthew Gully, Anthony Gully, Fitzgerald (Nikita) King, Wilton Simons Jr., Robert Jones and Vincenza Jones; 10 great-grandchildren, Jonathan Pugh Jr., Jeoffroi Pugh, Kimbry Pugh, Machaerus Armad Pernell, Shayla Ariand Pernell, Wilton Simons III, Krystoff Cross, Jayden Cooks, Keven Pritchett and Lakendra Pugh; six great-great-grandchildren, Makera Tyrae Pernell, Kyle Pritchett, Kayden Pritchett, Makenley Pugh, Ejypt Lashea Pernell and Alaja Pritchett; five step-grandchildren, Nathaniel L. (Cynthia) Jackson, Marcus L. (Olivia) Jackson, Rodney (Jerilyn) Jackson and Daniel L. (Keda) Jackson; 15 step-great-grandchildren; with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
