Sarah Byrd Weaver passed away on Nov. 19, 2022, following a struggle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Harry; son, Harry, Jr. of Levelland, Texas; daughter, Catherine Warner of La Spezia, Italy; son, Don of Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was born on Dec. 1, 1939, in Brewton, Alabama. She then graduated from Auburn University, lived in Houston, Texas, and finally moved to Albuquerque in 1967, where she remained the rest of her life.

Sarah lived during an interesting period in American history in that Sputnik was launched while she was in high school and her first teaching position was a chemistry class that racially integrated Auburn High School.

In Albuquerque, Sarah taught math and science at Cleveland, Jackson, and Hoover Junior High Schools for a total of more than twenty years. Following retirement, she served as docent for the Albuquerque BioPark Zoo, where she could recognize and recite the individual name of every primate.
