Sarah Barbara “Sally” Mohr, 97, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday, Jan. 14, of natural causes at Riverside Village.

Sally was born Jan. 7, 1920, in Oskaloosa, Kan. She was the daughter of the late John E. and Corinne A. (Icks) Nicholson Sr. She married Frederick E. “Fritz” Mohr on Nov. 23, 1944, in Elkhart. Fritz died May 28, 2004.

Surviving are her son, David A. Mohr and wife Melonie of Elkhart; grandchildren Aaron Mohr of Elkhart and Andrea Delaney and husband Mark of Bartlett, Ill.; and her three great-granddaughters, Caitlin, Kristin and Elizabeth Delaney all of Bartlett; and sister Patricia Durben of Edwardsburg, Mich.

In addition to her parents and husband, three brothers, Bill, John Jr. and Robert Nicholson, preceded her in death.

Sally worked as an export secretary at the Selmer Company for 32 years, retiring in 1983. She formerly worked at Miles Laboratories for several years, prior to her marriage. She graduated from Elkhart High School. Sally was a longtime and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, was in the church bowling league. She also did volunteer work at the church and was a member of the ladies aid and the OWLS Senior Group. In her spare time, she enjoyed crossword and word search puzzles.
