Sarah Ann Barnes, a native and resident of Calvert, made her earthly transition on Friday, Aug. 20, 2021 while at Mobile Infirmary. Sarah was born June 5, 1935 to Willie Irma Reed Wiley and Alfred Wiley. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Calvert.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Roy Barnes Sr.; sons, Cedric and Windell Barnes; grandson, Robert Williams Jr.; and great-grandson, Peyton Ferrell.
Her memories will be cherished by seven daughters, Sarah Witherspoon, Mary Barnes, Brenda (James) Nettles, Janet (Chris) Flott, LyDia Barnes, Donna Barnes and Marisa Barnes; seven sons, Roy Barnes Jr., Ronald (Crystal) Barnes, Hernadis Barnes, Damion Ferrell, Anthony Byrd, Zaram and Zairam Barnes; 26 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; godson, Carlos (Carolyn) Barnes; one brother, John C. (Jeanette) Wiley; with an abundance of family members and friends.
