Sara Powell “Sally” Luckenbach, 79, of Bethlehem, passed away Wednesday April 4, 2012 at St. Lukes Hospice House. She was the wife of the late Leonard J. Luckenbach, Jr., who died in 1989. Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Lenoir, N.C., she was the daughter of the late R. Carter and Ella Mae (McElhaney) Powell. Sally was a graduate of the Womens College of the University of North Carolina. She was a Realtor for 40 years, primarily in Bethlehem. Sally was a member of Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem, where she was the first female Trustee. She served on the Board of Directors of Saucon Mutual Insurance Co. for 34 years and was a member of the Historical and Architectural Review Board for Historic District of Bethlehem. Sally was a longtime member of the Junior League and volunteer and former substitute teacher at Moravian Academy. Survivors: her daughters, Lisa Estabrook and her husband Jeffrey of Paoli, PA., Linda Aughney and her husband Michael of Petaluma, CA, and a son, Leonard J. Luckenbach, III and his wife Donna of Bethlehem, a sister, Eleanor Powell Smith of Charlotte, NC, grandchildren, Sarah and Graham Estabrook, Jacob and Tyler Aughney, and Daniel Luckenbach.
