Sara Jane Oates went to heaven the morning of Saturday, November 7, 2020, after a short illness. Sara was born on June 28, 1923 in Kenton and she lived in Kenton all her life. She married Donald Oates on 2-17-1944. They had a long, strong, loving marriage of 57 years, which lasted until Donald died in 2001. Sara was a devout Christian and she served her Savior by teaching Sunday school at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church for 35 years. She also was active In Ladies Aid for decades.
Sara was a devoted wife and mother. She made sure that her two sons, Tom and Bob, lived in a home where there was great love for Jesus Christ, great love between their father and mother, and great love for them. Sara showed her deep love for her husband by the care she gave him for the last 9 years of his life, a time when he had substantial needs. Sara also showed her love for others by working as a volunteer at Hardin Memorial Hospital for many, many years. In addition to her two sons, Sara leaves 1 daughter-in-law, 3 grandchildren and their spouses, and 7 great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her very much.
