Sara Elizabeth Morley, age 30, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, September 28, 2014.
Sara was born in Flagstaff, AZ and spent most of her life there. She graduated from Northland Preparatory Academy in 2002 and moved to Bellingham, WA where she earned a Bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University. She returned to Flagstaff where she earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from NAU. Sara was a long – time employee of North Country Health Care.
Sara was not a casual observer of life. She was a passionate participant. She immersed herself in issues and causes that were important to her. Her friends and family often found themselves in debate with Sara over the environment, LGBT rights and other social issues. Her driving passion, however, was politics. From an early age she was interested in politics and, to the amazement of her parents, at 2 years old announced her intention to run for President of the United States. This early enthusiasm evolved into a deep commitment to public service.
In her short life, Sara made many contributions to her community. She served on numerous boards, including Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy, Northland Hospice, Both Hands, Girls on the Run, and was a current member of the Flagstaff Leadership Program. She will be remembered most, however, for the small kindnesses to others that were characteristic of her daily life.
In her leisure time Sara could be found backpacking in the Colorado Plateau or rafting the Colorado River.
Sara is the daughter of Susan Morley of Flagstaff. Her father, Michael Morley is deceased. Sara is survived by her sisters, Jessica of Boston, MA, and Katherine of Flagstaff; her Grandmothers, Doris Morley and Blanche Levine; her “Grandpa”, Maurice Miller; her aunts and uncles Joyce and Robert Diamond, John and Dawn Morley, Kathe and Neil Callahan, Joe and Peggie Morley and Mary and Jim Savarin; many cousins and wonderful friends.
