Sara Amelia Travis Gordon, age 68 passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Friday, August 17, 2007 after fighting a long battle with Leukemia.
She was born on September 9, 1938 in Albany, Georgia and raised in Fayetteville, Georgia. She has called Fort Walton Beach, Florida her home since 1983. Mrs. Gordon was a homemaker and stay-at-home Mother. She traveled the world with her husband and children living in such places as Korea, Italy, and Germany. She was a devoted full-time Grandmother to her seven grandchildren who know her as “Mema”.
Mrs. Gordon was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Evelyn Travis, her sisters Mary Ellen Herrington and Connie Evans.
Mrs. Gordon was survived by her husband of 50 years, Charles E. Gordon of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; brother Charles Travis and wife Lorna; her children, Ken Gordon and wife Renee of Senoia Georgia, Sandi MacDonald, Barry Gordon and wife Robyn, Connie Gordon Wilbur and husband Jason of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Chelsee MacDonald, Jenna and Austin Gordon, Cory and Sean Gordon, Griffin and Sydney Wilbur; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Mrs. Sara Gordon aka “Mema” will be deeply missed by those who know and love her. She never met a stranger or Bingo Hall she didn’t like. She loved her family, her children and grandchildren more than words could describe.
