HARLINGEN, TX. —
Santiago Solis, 79, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend entered the house of our Lord on Friday, July 10, 2015 after a long hard battle with Alzheimer’s.
Jimmy was born in La Feria, Texas to Juan and Paulina Solis in August of 1935. Jimmy attended school in La Feria, Texas. In 1957 he married Maria Cobarrubias, and after serving in the Army, moved to Harlingen where he remained with his family.
Santiago was a devoted husband and father. He worked with Dentler Facs and Little Debbie for many years working long hours to support his family. He was a man of many talents who worked tirelessly to provide for all his children, grandchildren and family. Jimmy had such strong Faith in God becoming a Crusillista by teaching others to live out their lives in the fundamentals of being a Christian, He was a very outgoing person enjoying sports, fishing, fixing objects and teaching his children how to fix what was broken. He also enjoyed his visits to Las Vegas but he especially loved to play the accordion and would sing for his wife of 58 years to the delight of his family and friends. Jimmy was a true Good Samaritan always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents Juan and Paulina Solis, his mother and father-in-law Maria and Antonio Cobarrubias, Brother Esequiel Solis, sister Delia Solis Valdez and granddaughter Annaliese Pauline Garcia.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him are his devoted and loving beautiful wife of 58 years Maria C. Solis, Children: Diana (Rick) Tamez, Delma (Jesse) Gallegos, Jim (Diana) Solis, Dina (JC) Casas, Lionel (Alicia) Solis, David (Mary) Solis, Michael (Cindy) Solis. Sister, Elva Bustamante and Cousin, Victoria Guerrero, 20 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
