Sanelia Richard Laura was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, friend to many and most importantly a woman of God. She went home to be with the Lord on the early morning of March 13th, 2022, at the age of 75. She was born on January 8, 1947, in Dame-Marie, Haiti to Morce’ Richard and Analia Dimanche.

Sanelia left Dame-Marie for Port au Prince, Haiti where she met Joseph Laura and got married in 1963.  They would have celebrated their 59 year of marriage this year.  She left Haiti in 1997 with Joseph to come to the United States. She lived in Hawaii, Florida and New Jersey.  She settled in New Jersey where the family began to gather until the remaining kids in Haiti came to live after a few years.

She faithfully and joyfully served in many capacities in her church. She was a member of the Legion De Marie at Holy Spirit and Our Lady Help of Christians Roman Catholic Church in East Orange, NJ. Her Church and church activities was her passion, she would tell you, “There’s no negotiation” when it’s time for church. She loved cooking for her family, oh boy, she was a great cook!
