Sandra W. West passed away on November 27, 2021. Sandra was born to parents George and Grace Wright in Greenock, Scotland on February 9, 1942. In February 1961, Sandra, along with her lifelong friend Sylvia, left Scotland on sponsored work visas as nannies to two American families in New Jersey, in the greater New York City Metropolitan area. A year later, Sandra obtained her “green card” to work anywhere in the United States. Her career spanned many years in the advertising departments of Redbook and McCall’s Magazines. She lived in Queens and later, on Long Island, New York where she commuted to her office in Manhattan. She met Hal West on Long Island in 1989. In 1995, Hal convinced her to move to Colorado along with her beloved Norwich Terriers. Sandra proudly was naturalized as a citizen of the United States in January 1997, while continuing to cherish her Clan MacIntyre Scottish roots.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Hal (Harold E.) West; sister, Beryl (John) Morrison; brother, Ritchie (Isobel) Wright; and niece, Fiona Morrison all of Scotland; nephew, Ian (Rachel) Morrison of Florida; her friend, Sylvia Parchinski of Florida with whom she began her American adventure; friend and surrogate American mother, Jule Gellner of New Jersey. Sandra is also survived by members of her West family, Hal’s children, Tom (Anna) West of Fort Collins, and Amy (Bob) Moriarity of Allenspark Colorado; brother-in-law, Tom “Smokey” (Doris) West of Arizona; as well as numerous extended West family nieces, nephews and their families across America. They truly accepted and loved Sandra and will always remember her cheery personality and charming Scottish accent.
