Sandra Ann Josephine Karkota Sensel, passed away December 1, 2016 peacefully at her home in Beacon, NY. Born 10/9/42 in Newton, NJ to Anna Homonchuk Karkota & Joseph John Karkota. Sandra lived in Brooklyn, NY till she was 8 and moved with her parents to Beacon, NY where she grew up and lived happily. She graduated from Beacon H.S. in 1961 and took courses at Dutchess Comm. College as well as the CIA Institute passing all and having fun. Sandra married the love of her life, Richard Sensel September 5, 1965 at St. Joachims Church and was married for 47 yrs until his death in 5/1/13. Sandra worked at Texaco’s Reservation Center for 23 yrs. Sandra shared her husbands passion for 7 corvettes and 8 old Fords and drove them all. Her passions were her horses, riding, driving her horse and carriages. She enjoyed her RV’s and cruising the seas. Sandra was also a member of numerous horse and carriage driving clubs, the Mid Hudson Driving Assoc. and Mid Hudson Draft Horse Assoc., as well as other clubs in various states, as well as 2 national clubs. Survivors include: Her favorite cousins Joanne Karkota Norton and husband Tom of Merrick, NY. Their daughter Amanda, New Paltz, NY, Cousin Constantine Homonchuk and his wife Maggie of Marlboro NY. Cousin Thomas Karkota of Merrick, NY. Cousin Norberta Modliszewski of Wampum, PA. She is also survived by her very close friends, Eunice Shumalski, Stone Ridge, NY, Marilyn Coates, Fishkill NY, Joy & Malcom Mills, Hopewell Junction, NY, Andrea Phillips Cold Spring, NY, as well as Sandra’s cats, Horace, Ringo and Bingo and her horse Gidione. Sandra parents predeceased her.
