Sandra “Sandy” I. Steele, age 69, of Salem, died on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the Cleveland Clinic with her family by her side. She was born December 19, 1944 in Canton, Ohio, daughter of Marjorie (Newbold) Johnson and the late Merel Johnson. Sandy was a Carrollton High School graduate and a graduate of Columbus Business University in Columbus. She was employed at H&R Block in Boardman and previously employed as a bookkeeper at Myer’s Equipment in Canfield. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Sebring. She was a loving giving person who quickly made friends wherever she went. A sister, Cathy Johnson preceded her in death. Her husband, Norman Steele, whom she married December 27, 1970, survives her along with three sons, Kevin (Lili) Steele of Auburn, California, Michael Steele of San Diego, California, and Brian (Erin) Steele of Cleveland; a daughter, Shannon Steele (Troy) Crosslan of Birminghan, Alabama; her mother, Marjorie (Newbold) Johnson of Mechanicstown, Ohio; sister, Debbie (Patrick) Wright of Hanoverton; brother, Tom (Cindy) Johnson of Hanoverton; five grandchildren, Stevie, Alishia, Karlee, Michael and Jack; and a great-grandson, Bode. Sandy also had many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews that she cared deeply about.
