Sandra (Sandy) Lynn Mundy passed away peacefully on Friday, April 15, 2022. She was the widow of Joseph (Joey) Paul Mundy who passed in 2004. They shared 43 amazing years of marriage together.
Born in Harrisburg, PA, on April 29th, 1938, Sandy was the 5th and youngest child of John N. Beinhauer and Lillian Love Beinhauer. Sandy became an accomplished piano player during her younger years, a gift she often shared with her children and grandchildren.
Sandy grew up in Enola, PA. Her father was a conductor on the PA Railroad and her mother was a homemaker. She graduated from William Penn High School.
Sandy was a graduate of the Medical College of Pennsylvania, where she earned her degree as a registered nurse. After marrying Joe in 1961, Sandy started her career in Syracuse, NY at the VA Hospital. It was in Syracuse where they started their family. Soon after, they were a family of four and had purchased their first home on Hunter Lane in West Chester, PA. Sandy had such a love for children that she and her best friend started a nursery school. She ran this with ease for almost ten years, at which time she went to work for Devereaux Foundation as a nurse. She had a love for the disabled children she cared for there and shared that love for those less fortunate with her own children.
In 1981, she moved to Ballston Lake, NY, where she lived for more then 40 years. She was a well loved and respected charge nurse, in the psychiatric unit, at Saratoga Hospital for more than 25 years. Her children will say that she always made home a place for friends to gather, a “cool“ mom with a fun house.
Sandy was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph Mundy, her parents John and Lillian Love Beinhauer, her siblings Phyllis Hochella, Wray Beinhauer, Charlene Lippi, and John Beinhauer Jr.
She will be lovingly remembered by her four children: Christopher (Kate)-Bethesda, MD, Scott-Schenectady, NY, Erik (Ann)-Millis, MA, and Heather (Glenn) Lajeunesse-Fairfield, CT. She is the proud grandmother of 10: Ryan, Connor, Julia, Ally, Olivia, Erin, Meghan, Caroline, Jack, and Nik, all of whom will miss the way she always made them feel special and loved.
