Sandra A. “Sandy” (Reiter) Stump, 85, formerly of Elkhart, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne. She was born on January 25, 1937, in Grand Forks, ND to the late Wilber and Virginia (Galbreath) Reiter.
Sandy was also preceded in death by her husband, Glen R. Stump and brother, Tom Reiter. She is survived by her children, Daniel J. (Dayna) Stump and Melissa A. Stump; grandchildren, Mallory and Taylor (Cait) Stump; great grandchildren, Mia and Lennon Stump; and her faithful canine companion, Molly.
Sandy was an outgoing, fashionable, and fun-loving woman who enjoyed laughing and living life to the fullest. She never met a stranger and was a well-known “people” person in her community who loved being social. In her early years, she spent most of her life in the Nappanee and Elkhart area. Sandy graduated from Concord High School where she was the school’s social butterfly and a talented cheerleader. During her school days, she was crowned Miss Concord in 1955, an accomplishment she was very proud of.
Sandy later went on to work as a receptionist for Glaval Vans then Forest River for 37 years prior to her recent retirement in June of 2020. For many years, she was the smiling face of the company and many of her co workers would comment on how welcomed they felt seeing her first thing in the morning. In her spare time, Sandy enjoyed reading, traveling, dancing to the music of the 50’s, and shopping.
No fashionable lady would be complete without a collection of shoes, a pair for each outfit. Most of all, Sandy loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was proud of all her children and loved to be with her family any chance she had, always treasuring those precious moments. Sandy will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends.
