Sandra Lee (Klenzak) Kozuh, 78, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2021 in Phoenix, Arizona with her family by her side. Born July 22, 1942 in Joliet, IL, and predeceased by father, Edward Klenzak (1965); mother, Mildred (Linich) Klenzak-Pavell (1985); and sister, Anne (Klenzak) Skul (2007). Sandy graduated from St. Francis Academy in 1960, then went to beauty school, married, and had four children who survived her: Barbara, Phoenix, AZ; David (Bobbie), Oswego, IL; Karen (Bob) Chearo, Anthem, AZ; and Eric (Kristin), Royal Palm Beach, FL.

Sandy’s 10 grandchildren were the apple of her eye: Andy Chearo, Joliet, IL; Robyn (CJ) Barense, Zeeland, MI; Ben Kozuh, Joliet, IL; Annie Hanaway, Phoenix, AZ; step-grandchildren Keaton (Daniel) Howell, Oswego, IL; Jessica Zuidema, Tampa, FL; and Justin Zuidema, Elk Grove Village, IL; and great-grandchildren Harper Johnson, Emry Johnson and Dominic Howell, all of Oswego, IL. Her favorite activities were watching her grandchildren participate in sports and activities, celebrating special occasions, and always making sure they had plenty of snacks.

Sandy opened 59 Hair Design in her home in 1979. Daughter Karen later joined her at the hair salon and the mother-daughter team was a staple in downtown Plainfield until Sandy’s retirement in 2008. After moving to Phoenix, AZ to be near her new granddaughter and escape the frigid Midwest winters, Sandy often said how much she enjoyed Arizona and would constantly marvel at the mountains and gorgeous sunsets, taking innumerable photos and texting them to her friends and family back in Illinois. She liked telling her friends about the time her son-in-law, Bob, saved her from a bobcat stalking her from the backyard fence while she innocently drank her morning coffee on the patio.
