Sandra Lee (D’Addio) Nichols, 72, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017. She was born in Middletown, Connecticut to Joseph A. D’Addio and Arline M. (Daniels) D’Addio, she was predeceased by both her parents and brother Joseph A, Jr. She was also predeceased by Russell Belcher, her long time companion and “Papa” to her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her sister and brother in law, Deborah and Delbert Little of Meriden, her brother and sister in law Rick and Barbara D’Addio of Middletown, her son Michael of Bristol, daughter Lisa Nichols-Dunham and grandchildren Sarah and Seth Dunham of West Haven, and daughter Kirsten Nichols and granddaughter Marah Nichols-Rivera of Middletown. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and -nephews. Sandra lived in Middletown, graduating from Woodrow Wilson high school in 1962, after which she was employed at Pratt and Whitney as a ‘computist’. She moved to Vermont in 1965 after marrying Stephen D. Nichols. She lived in East Brookfield where she helped manage the family business, taught occasional art classes at Brookfield Elementary and raised her children. She was also employed during this time as a Town Lister. She then worked daily for the State of Vermont in Montpelier as an administrator while working night shift at Tranquility Nursing Home in Randolph. Moving back to Middletown in 1981, she enjoyed a long career with the Social Security Administration until her retirement from the Middletown office in 2007. Always artistic (she wrote a letter to Walt Disney when she was 12 asking for a job as an animator), Sandra started a small craft business called ‘Simple Delights’ with her sister Deb. Together they created many beautiful pieces which they sold at craft fairs or gave to family members. She cultivated a love of art and reading in her children and grandchildren. Sandra enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, doting on them whenever she could spend time embracing the joy they brought to her.

Godspeed Mommy. Fly with the Angels. Your Loving children, Michael, Lisa and Kirsten.
