Sandra Kay Rice, age 74 of Kalamazoo, died on July 15, 2022. She was born on October 7, 1947, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Axe. Sandra was a cashier at Millie’s Bakery for several years. She was first and foremost a caretaker. She cared for her ailing husband. In later years she cherished getting to watch her grandkids and spend time with them.
Her family includes her children: Bud Smith and Angela DeYoung; her grandchildren: Gwenyth Platt, Jessica DeYoung, and Ernie McClendon; her brother Rich and her sister Lori; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James, her son Will, her grandson Andrew, and several brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sandra’s name may be directed to American Cancer Society.
