Sandra J. Davis Rohrer, 79, of Jacksonville, IL and formerly of Springfield, IL died Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.

She was born February 23, 1936 in Beardstown, the daughter of Glenn William and Carlin Vern Shelton Davis.

She is survived by three sons, Steven A. Wease (wife, Georgia) of Springfield, John A. Wease (wife, Kim) of Auburn, and Michael DeBeaulieu of Springfield; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Glenda Hazelrigg of Petersburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Franklin Donald Davis.

A native of Virginia, Illinois, Sandra was a graduate of Virginia High School and of the United Methodist faith. She was brave and courageous to the very end fighting like a champ but accepting of her fate. Kind and sweet with a lovable and charming personality, she was adored by everyone, even when the cuss words were flowing, “That’s just Sandra” we would say. She loved freely and without condition, hugging and kissing us every time we saw her, “Give me a kiss and a hug, honey.” If she liked you, you were her friend for life, and one would expect to get calls on a regular basis if she didn’t hear from you. An impeccable baker, she created the most delicious banana bread and pineapple cookies.

In a world full of people who don’t know who they are or who are trying to be someone else, Sandra knew exactly who she was. “I’m a small town girl”, she proudly declared. She faced challenging periods in her life, battling mental illness, pulmonary disease and the devastating loss of her parents and brother, but she persevered and kept on living.
