Sandra J. Richards, 84, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

She was born in Fort Wayne on October 16, 1937, to the late Jack & Corniela (Cotterly) Parr. She spent her formative years in Fort Wayne and graduated from Central High School.

Sandy was married to the love of her life, David Richards, in Fort Wayne, on June 24, 1990.

Sandy was an amazing waitress for most of her life. She worked at Hall’s and managed the Black Rose. She, at one time, owned and operated the Old Mill on Bluffton Road. In the last several years before her retirement, she assisted with Dave’s machine shop, Huth Tool.

In their retirement, Sandy and Dave enjoyed traveling. They took trips together all around the world and the U.S. The couple especially loved going to Las Vegas. Sandy enjoyed playing blackjack, slot machines, and all the margaritas and beer! While they were in Vegas they enjoyed visiting their granddaughters and extended family. In addition, Sandy had a great love for golf. She and Dave played as much as possible. On any nice day in the summer, you could count on Sandy, her family, and her friends all hanging out in her backyard pool with her patio full of beautiful flowers.

Sandy loved and cherished her family more than anything. On each family member’s birthday, she would call first thing in the morning and sing happy birthday over the phone. She was always telling hilarious jokes and she had the most contagious laugh. To know her was to love her.

Sandy is survived by her husband, David Richards; her daughter, Kellee Girvin-Yarian; her son, Stan Girvin; two stepdaughters, Linda Myers and Jill (Jake) Ramic; her stepson, Wade (Janice) Richards; her sister, Margo (Mark) Adams; 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Grant Girvin; her daughter, Kimberly Jellison; and her sister, Sharon Sakoff.
