LAYNE, SANDRA J.
Sandra J. Layne, age 65, of New Smyrna Beach, died Saturday at Halifax Hospital Port Orange, surrounded by members of her loving family. Born in Saint James, Missouri, Mrs. Layne moved to Florida in 1979, coming from West Carrollton, Ohio.
Formerly the food and beverage director for Bay Hill Country Club in Orlando, she volunteered at the neo-natal unit of Arnold Palmer Hospital for Women and Children, which led to her work as a fund raiser for Women Playing for TIMEaĢ, raising money for the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Orlando.
Survivors include four daughters, Debbie Pontis and husband, Dan, of Longmont, Colorado, Cindy Poole and husband, Mark, of New Smyrna Beach, Judy Moschetta and husband, Matt, of Marietta, Georgia, Jennifer Ball of Springboro, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Nick and Kyle Pontis of Longmont, Chester and Marla Poole of New Smyrna Beach, Amanda and Theresa Moschetta of Marietta, Cassandra and Cody Ball, of Springboro; great aunt and uncle, Cathy and Gene Boggs or Port Orange; and a significant other, Auke Hempenius of Los Angeles, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Dorothy Duncan.
