Sandra (Sandy) Peterson Hinkle passed away at her home from cancer, Wednesday, August 27, 2014, surrounded by her family.
Sandy was born June 13, 1951, in Helena, Montana, to Donna Lee Lythgoe and Hugo Dobler. After living at the family ranch north of Helena, her mother remarried when she was 12, and Sandy was adopted and loved by her new dad, LaRoy Gene Peterson.
Sandy attended school in Helena, Oceanside; San Pedro, California; and Bremerton, Washington before her Navy family returned to Helena where she graduated from Helena Senior High in 1970. Sandy later lived in Billings, Montana before moving to Boise, Idaho where she lived for 27 years.
Sandy married Jason Keller while in Helena. They had two children, Travis Wade Keller and Jaycee Lynn Keller. They later divorced. After moving to Billings, Sandy met and married her love, Raymond LeRoy Hinkle with whom she had another daughter, Kalee Rae Hinkle.
In Helena, Sandy worked at various restaurants. In Billings, she worked as a Firestone mechanic before becoming a paraprofessional. She also worked as a paraprofessional in Boise. Later, Sandy operated a day care from her home besides caring for foster children who loved her like a mom.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Ray Hinkle; children Travis (Rachel) Keller, Boise; Jaycee (Shane) Norman, Mountain Green, UT; and Kalee Rae Hinkle, Boise; also sisters Carolyn (Blair) Harding, Idaho Falls; Valerie (Mike) Bright, Helena, MT; and Tami (Curtis) Hanson, Kuna, ID.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donna and LaRoy Peterson; grandparents Grace and Eldred Lythgoe and Clarence and Eitha Peterson; Aunt Marsha and Uncle Tom Lythgoe; and nephew Danny Williams.
