Sandra Kathleen Claus Mizell Cupit, 75 years old, beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother was called to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 18, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She entered this world on July 3, 1945, born to Leila and Clyde Claus, Sr., in Corpus Christi, TX. She grew up with a grand piano in her bedroom and from that a love of worship was born with her playing the piano and singing. Her faith in Jesus Christ carried her through her early years and all throughout her journey in life. She is the reason her family came to know Jesus Christ. She was not a stranger to anyone, and she talked to everyone even if they didn’t listen. She loved her family, butterflies, and cooking. Sandra married the love of her life in 1988, James Clinton Cupit, Sr. From that moment on, she felt her life was complete. Her life without him was never the same.
Sandra is survived by her daughters, Christina Mizell, Jennifer Kleinpeter, and Leila Mizell; son, Aubrey Mizell, Jr. (Linda); stepsons, James “Jimbo” Cupit, Jr. (Lynnette), Kevin Cupit, and Chris Cupit; stepdaughter, Julie Walker (Ronnie); 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; half-sister, Robin Claus Frerich; half-brother, Craig Claus; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Sandra is preceded in death by her husband, James Cupit, Sr.; father, Clyde Claus, Jr.; mother, Leila Rapson; first husband, Aubrey Mizell, Sr.; son-in-law, Timothy Kleinpeter; sister, Pat Richards; and brothers, Denny Claus and Clyde Claus, Jr.
