Sammy entered into this life in Haigler, Nebraska on June 23, 1938 to Samuel Benjamin Kuhns and Mildred Leone Lytle. While traveling around quite often, Sammy was part of many different schools. After his Junior year in highschool, Sammy left school to join the workforce as a feedlot cowboy that he soon realized would be his knack for many years to come.

On December 21, 1957, in the Church of the Nazarene Parsonage in Weldona Colorado, Sammy married his sweetheart Eva Lazora Lintner. This union brought 4 wonderful sons to Sammy and Eva, Samuel, Willie, Daniel, and Russell. Following Sammy around the countryside between Kansas and Colorado to work whatever jobs were available was what this crew did. They finally came to rest in Sterling in 1982 where Sammy and Eva made this area their home. Sammy worked as a feedlot cowboy up until his retirement.

When Sammy wasn’t at work and well after his retirement, Sammy would rather have been playing pool than eating. And that was where he was found more times than not. If there was a pool table that was open, with cue stick in tow, Sammy was there challenging whoever would be willing to play against him. Even if you didn’t know how to play, Sammy would take the time to teach you if you were willing to learn. Along with being an avid pool player/teacher, Sammy was also a devoted husband, father and an all around hand willing to help in whatever way he could.

Sammy is survived by sons Sam Kuhns and wife Sonia of Greensburg, KS, and Daniel Kuhns and wife Ann of Sterling, CO; Daughter-In-Law Dianna Kuhns of Brownsboro, TX; sisters Ninabell Oakley of Benkelman NE, Barbara Hanes of Benkelman, BetsyAnn Campbell and husband Robert of Sterling, CO and Doris Biggs of Texas; 8 Grandchildren; 10 Great-Grandchildren and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
