Samuel Thomas Steele, 23, of Spirit Lake passed away unexpectedly at his home in Spirit Lake on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. Sam was born on November 5, 1997, to Mark Steele and Kristi Riley. He graduated from Estherville High School and attended Iowa Lakes Community College. When Sam was not in school, he enjoyed his time on the golf course, both working and playing. In his down time, he enjoyed video gaming, especially racing games. To say Sam was a Minnesota Vikings fans would be an understatement, he looked forward to every game and took their wins and losses to heart. He was loved by all who knew him, especially his nieces and nephews whom he enjoyed spending quality time with. He will be greatly missed by his many cherished lifelong friends. Left to cherish and carry on his memories are his father Mark Steele of Spirit Lake; mother Kristi Riley and significant other Mike Eggers of Estherville; sisters Megan Lynch and her daughter Finley Jones of Des Moines, IA; Hannah (Brian) Fields and their daughter Brooke Fields of Colorado Springs, CO; Emily (Chad) Walton and their children Chase and Cade of Hartley, IA; grandparents Bernice Steele of Spirit Lake; Wendell (Lou) Riley of Spirit Lake; and Mary Jo Riley and significant other Don Laubach of Lakefield, MN; and many aunts, uncles and cousins and his beloved dog Tank. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Thomas Steele and aunt Cara Riley.
