Samuel “Sam” Gene Coffman of Franklin, IN born August 19, 1946, died Monday, May 30, 2022, in his home at the age of 75. He was a husband, father, brother, uncle, and step-grandfather.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, Mark Deming Coffman and Helen Frances Murray Coffman. He was married to the late Geneva “Jenny” Ann Coffman and was the father of four children, Patrick H. Coffman, the late Margaret “Maggie” H. Coffman, Monica H. Connerly and Lucy H. VanRuff (Billy). He was also a brother to the late Mark “Tom” Thomas Coffman and survived by a sister-in-law, Kay Coffman. Later Sam married Connie Green Coffman on December 26, 2007. That expanded him to be a step-father to Amy M. Sapp (Dale), Stacia Green, Michael S. Green (Lisa); and 8 step-grandchildren.
During his lifetime, he went into the Navy right after graduating high school and spent most of his time in the service in Jacksonville, FL. He spent most of his professional career with AT&T/Ameritech until his retirement in 2005. Sam became an avid runner in his adult life and enjoyed time running with family and his local running group as well as participating in road races over his lifetime. He loved the joy of tinkering and fixing things to bring back to life, enjoying the challenge. He was a devoted husband, father and step-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with Connie’s grand kids.
