Samuel Franklin Shull, left this vale of tears and entered into peace on May 7, 2021 at the tender age of thirty-three after a battle with melanoma.
Born to Constance Elizabeth (Cooke) Shull and Luverne E. Shull on July 14, 1987 at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas; Samuel weighed in as a heavyweight at twelve pounds, five ounces.
Samuel is survived by his beloved wife, Tomi (Funk) Shull, daughter Lizzie Shull, and his in-laws, Tony and Chris Funk, his parents, his brother, Daniel Eugene Shull (wife Jessica, niece Evelyn) his sister, Sarah Elizabeth Biesen (husband Barry, nephew Isaac), his grandparents Raymond and Connie Cooke and numerous other friends and relatives, including his faithful, diminutive friend MacIntyre.
Samuel was preceded in death by his beloved grandpa, Lowell Willis Shull and grandma, Carol Loretta (Caspersen) Shull.
Samuel embraced life with the ferocity of the warrior he was, as a toddler he called himself “Samuel the Dragonslayer.” He embraced his Savior and LORD, Jesus Christ at a very early age, and is now safe in the embrace of the everlasting arms.
Samuel treasured family relationships. He passed away quietly at home, surrounded by the love of friends and family. Samuel pursued fishing, hunting and shooting with great passion. Samuel loved mining and collecting rocks with his father-in-law Tony Funk. He loved serving as a volunteer fire fighter for the Bliss Fire District. His fire chief described him as a good hand. He also loved panning for gold. Samuel enjoyed many kinds of music; he especially favored Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, Sr., and Johnny Cash. Samuel loved dogs, cats and wild animals. Samuel loved working with his hands in metal and wood. Samuel loved tattoos and piercings. He loved cars and boats and studied Hot Rods at WyoTech in Laramie Wyoming. Samuel loved playing sports and was a gifted athlete. Samuel preferred baseball (pitcher, he could strike out the side, sit on his Mom’s lap and then lay down a perfect bunt or hit the ball out of the park) and boxing, he called himself “The Vanilla Killer”. Samuel loved football (quarterback) wrestling, skateboarding, basketball and running.
Samuel and his family are very grateful to the caregivers that worked so hard fighting for Samuel’s life and comfort and the many loved ones that came to share their love for him.
Thus says the LORD:

Nor let not a rich man glory in his riches;
But let him who glories glory in this,
That he understands and knows Me,
That I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the
earth.
