Samuel R. Sharpe, 84, of Gulf Breeze and Seagrove Beach, FL passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born January 1, 1933 in Montgomery, AL to Samuel V. and Lillie Darrell Sharpe. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Constance “Connie” Williams Sharpe, his children Stephanie Hayes, Samuel R. Sharpe, Jr. (Stephanie), Celeste Stroud (Mark), Suzanne Meister (Matt); his grandchildren, Michaella Hayes, Wade Sharpe (Stephanie), Mark Stroud, Jr., Haley Stroud, Caroline Stroud, Hannah Meister, Lacy Meister; and great grandchildren, Cameron, Caleb and Leila Sharpe. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert T.
Sam studied building construction at Auburn University before embarking on a lifelong career in the construction industry. He moved his family to Gulf Breeze, FL in 1968, working for one of the largest contractors in the southeast. In 1975, he founded Sharpe, Inc., a successful contracting firm in Pensacola, FL. Besides his dedication to family and business, he enjoyed hunting, planting, and just being outdoors on his farm in Brantley, AL.
Sam will be greatly missed by his family and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
