Samuel Marcel Holland, Sr, departed this life on Thursday, May 20, 2021. He was 62 years old. He was born, September 18, 1958, to the late Otho Melvin Simmons of Talbot County, and Evangelist Josephine Marcella Wilson of Caroline County.
He was a devoted husband to his wife, Mary Catherine Holland, for 32 years. They lived, laughed, and loved in their peaceful home in Trappe, MD. Sammy was educated in Caroline County Public Schools. He enjoyed having fun with his buddies while working at Konsyl Pharmaceuticals. Often, he would spend time detailing his car, watching television, and fishing. He was passionate about playing his guitar. Sammy was known for his anointed God given talent to sing, and play the guitar. Not only did he set up singing groups, such as the Gospel Soft Tones. He played all over, church to church, and with musicians both young and old.
At a young age, he was Baptized in Jesus Name at his grandfather’s church in Ivytown, MD. Church was his home away from home. Sammy was a faithful member, at Greater Mt. Zion
Church, Bethlehem, MD. He would be one of the first to arrive, with guitar in hand, and ready to serve under the leadership of Bishop Chester Friend, and Elder Terrance Hubbard.
Sammy’s sound and tune could never be duplicated.
