Samuel E. Harris of Rolling Fork died on April 7, 2014 at the Sharkey-Issaquena Community Hospital at the age of 76.
Born February 26, 1938 to Pearl Lee Bugg and Edward Cleveland Harris in Monette, Arkansas, Sam went eleven grades at Childress High School and graduated from Elaine High School in 1956, and Nashville Auto Diesel School in 1958.
Beginning his farming operations in 1969, Sam was one of the first catfish farmers in the state. He was an avid pilot and airplane builder, as well as a deacon at Mayersville Baptist Church and Lake Washington Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Eddie Lee Harris, Sam is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Joiner Harris; daughters Donna Perry and Julie Dorris; four granddaughters; and a brother, Edward Cleveland Harris.
