Samuel Cooke, age 87, of Bayville, New Jersey, died peacefully Saturday, January 23, 2021.

He was born on May 25, 1933 in Cleveland Ohio and moved to New Jersey from Dallas Texas in 1940.  He graduated East side High School in Paterson in 1951.  Sam and his wife, Lee, moved from West Milford to Bayville in 1992.

Sam was a Korean War US Navy Veteran, serving as the ship’s electrician on board the USS Sage, a mine sweeper.  He worked at Singer Kearfott in Little Falls before starting his own business as an electrician which he operated for 38 years.  He was a member of the VFW and the Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed boating and fishing, and spending time with his family.  He was a good man who was liked by all who met him.

Sam was preceded in death 9 years ago by his wife of 58 years, Lee, and previously by his brother Dennis (Judy) of Ramsey NJ.  He is survived by his sons: Steve (Linda) of Bucks County, PA, Chris (Susan) of Highland Lakes, NJ and Tom (Jackie) of Bayville, NJ; Sister Dorothy (Frank) of New Smyrna Beach FL; Sister Mary (Ted) of Manchester NJ; grandchildren:  Matthew, Shannon, Patrick, Casey; as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.
