Samuel Arlis Smallwood, Sr., 76 of Newnan passed away Sunday, October 6, 2019 at Grady Memorial Hospital. He was born November 5, 1942 in Harlan, KY to the late Elmer P. Smallwood and Elizabeth Walden Smallwood. Before retiring Mr. Smallwood worked as Electrical lineman/contractor for 25 years with Pike Electric then worked as a Distribution Supervisor with Newnan, Water and Light/Newnan Utilities. After retiring he worked for the Coweta County School System as a special needs bus monitor for the last 7 years. He served as Deacon of First Christian Church in Newnan and was a member of Coweta Masonic Lodge No. 60.
Mr. Smallwood is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl McClain Smallwood; son, Samuel Arlis Smallwood, Jr.; daughters, Wakenda Smallwood Flynt and Melanie Smallwood (Keith) Brown; grandchildren, Samuel Arlis Smallwood, III (Trip) and Madelyn Samantha Brown; great-grandson, Samuel Arlis Smallwood, IV (Chipper); brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sonny and Cathy Warren; numerous nieces and nephews.
