He passed away at 6 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2008, at his residence.

Born Oct. 13, 1945, in Logansport, he was the son of Robert S. and Edna Kraay Williamson. He was married Jan. 1, 1984, in Logansport, to Christine Muehlhausen, who survives.

A 1963 graduate of South Caston High School, he was retired from the U.S. Army Reserve, where he was a drill instructor. He had operated a parachute training center and had made 863 jumps. Sam served in Vietnam during his active duty Army career with the 82nd Airborne.

Sam enjoyed preaching as a lay pastor and singing in the choir and men’s quartet. He also spent quality time competing with his son, Sam, in triathlons and road races. He competed in every River City and DINO mountain bike triathlon at France Park.

Sam relaxed by playing his saxophone, making hay and raising and racing Quarter Horses.

Surviving with his wife are his mother, Logansport; sons, Sam Williamson, Logansport, and Rob Williamson and his wife, Lisa, Cicero; daughter and son-in-law, Sami and Brad Urban, Monticello; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Mary Ann Williamson, Logansport, Joe and Maureen Williamson, Carmel, and Jim Williamson, London, Ohio; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Lonnie Johnson, Ellensburg, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert S. Williamson.
