Sam was born on March 31, 1941 to David Theodore and Margaret Bertha Mackelburger
in Denver Colorado and passed away on October 28, 2014 in Mesa Arizona.
He was the second son of four boys growing up in Englewood Colorado.
He attended Englewood public schools graduating from Englewood High School in 1959.
Sam married JoAnn Kaiser of Denver on February 16, 1963 settling in Littleton where they raised 2 sons
Michael and Ronald.
Sam started his work career as a machinist at General Iron Works later moving on to Stearns Roger, and eventually retiring in 2001 from Lockheed Martin as a manufacturing engineer.
Throughout his life he enjoyed outdoor activities which included dirt biking, camping, 4 wheeling, boating, and traveling. He passed his love of these activities onto his children and grandchildren. After retiring, his winters were spent in the warm suns of Arizona and California with JoAnn in their motorhome.
He is survived by JoAnn, Mike and Steph (son and wife), Ron and Rima (son and wife), grandchildren Josh and wife Michele, Jordyn, Zach, and Tyler all residing in Centennial, Colorado. Also survived by younger brother Jim and wife Lemmie of Massachusetts, and youngest brother Fred and wife Nancy of Arizona. Preceded in death by his parents and older brother John
