Salem – Samantha “Sam” Lynn Shasteen, age 32, of Salem, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 4, 2013. She was born October 18, 1980 in Salem, a daughter of Garry and Mary (Tenzek) Shasteen. Samantha graduated from Salem High School in 1999. While there, she participated in soccer, basketball and was a member of the 1997 district softball championship team. After graduating high school, Samantha pursued her passion in the culinary world and received a degree from the Pittsburgh Institute of Culinary Arts. She advanced her skills training under the world renowned Collette Peters. She continued to excel, and built a fine reputation while working at established restaurants and country clubs in the Akron area, Boca Raton, Florida and Columbus, Ohio. For the last 3 years, she was employed at Clarencedale Cakes in Boardman as kitchen manager and head decorator. She leaves behind her parents, Garry and Mary Shasteen of Salem; her daughter, Lydia Rose Feisel of the home; a sister, Errin (Josh) Balogh of Akron; a nephew, Sidney C. Balogh of Akron; a grandmother, Mary M. Shasteen of Salem; and several cousins, aunts and uncles.
