Sam Jaffe, 98, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving wife holding his hand on April 25, 2016. Sam was born in Johnson City in 1917 and was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga. He graduated from Chattanooga City High in 1935 and then went to study business at Edmondson Business College. Sam worked for the Chattanooga Free Press before joining the US Navy where he went on to serve in the Pacific theatre of World War II. He was a lifetime member of B’nai Zion Synagogue. Sam owned and operated Shoe Renewery for 20 years and then went on to work in real estate for over 25 years. Upon retirement Sam enjoyed serving on the board of directors for Heritage Landing. Sam was a consummate gentleman, extremely hard worker, a tremendous caregiver, and was always generous with his time and resources. Mr. Jaffe is preceded in death by his mother and father, Nathan and Jenny Jaffe, sisters, Bertha Shube and Rebecca Malsh, and brother, Isadore Jaffe.
Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Snow Jaffe, son, Ricky (Sharon) Berg, of New Zealand, and numerous nieces and nephews.
