Sam Brunson, Sr.
Sam Brunson age 78 of Baker passed away at his home on December 26, 2021. He was born in Falco, AL on April 14, 1943, to Dan and Neva Brunson. Sam grew up in Baker and graduated from Baker High School in in 1961. In 1962 he married the love of his life Betty Cobb. Sam retired from the Crestview Housing Authority where he was the Director for 19 years. He was an Okaloosa County Commissioner from 1984 to 1988. Sam was very involved at Baker High School and was the “Voice of the Gators” for 45 years. He was prominent in his community and served as President of the Baker Quarterback Club and PTA. Sam loved Baker and Okaloosa County and did a lot for the community that he called home. Sam was an avid sports fan, he loved sports and playing sports. He played college ball at Pensacola Junior College and loved to play softball and golf. Sam was inducted into the Okaloosa County Sports Hall of Fame. He was preceded in death by his parents Dan and Neva Brunson and 2 brothers: Dan, Jr. and Joe Brunson.
Sam is survived by his wife of 59 years Betty Brunson; sons: Sam Brunson, Jr., Tim Brunson and his wife April, and Matthew Brunson and his wife Melissa; daughters: Nugyet Domenech & Nga Serrano; 13 grandchildren: Corey, Charity, Samuel, Zac, Cortney, Logan, Patrick, Madeleine, Spencer, William, Grace, Josh, & Robert; He also has 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
