Sam B. Kosiara passed away on April 8, 2018 at the age of 85.  He was born in Gaylord, Michigan to Leo and Violet Kosiara.  He grew up in Gaylord and joined the Air Force after one year of college.  In the Air Force he primarily performed aircraft maintenance.  He served 11 months in Korea at the end of the Korean War.  After his 4 years of active duty, 1952-1956, he served 4 years in the Air Force standby reserves, 1956-1960.  While at McConnell AFB in Wichita, Kansas, he met and fell in love with Dolores May.  They married in 1956 and moved to Englewood, Colorado in 1961.  They lived and raised their family in Englewood.  Sam worked in the Packing / Shipping Department at Martin Marietta / Lockheed Martin.  Part of his job duties at Martin included packaging parts for various shuttle missions as well as the tear down of a couple of launch pads for these missions.  He retired from this company in 1999.
