Mr. Salvatore ‘Sam’ Zarro, of Indianapolis, passed away on the morning of Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the Franciscan Hospice House. He was 93. Sam was born May 13, 1926 in Nusco, Italy, one of eight children born to Amato and Maria (Iuliano) Zarro.
Sam came to the United States as an infant of 18 months when his family moved from their homeland for a better life in America. He attended school in Indianapolis and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1944 and he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Butler University in 1950. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War 2 and was a member of the American Legion.

A jack-of-all-trades, Sam was an industrious man as well as an inventor and could fix or repair anything. He enjoyed working in his yard and caring and cultivating his fig tree he brought here from Italy. He held an Indiana Real Estate Brokers license for many years and spent some of his leisure time fly fishing. He especially looked forward to an annual fishing trip to Minnesota with his friends.
