Sally Benoit peacefully passed away at home on Monday, March 22, 2021, with her husband by her side.

Sally was born on September 16, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Howard and Florence (Eddy) Peterson.

She loved her “daddy” dearly every moment of her life, but another man won her heart on October 24, 1958, when Sally married the love of her life, Ronald Benoit, with whom she spent 62 loving years.

As an Army wife and mother, Ron and Sally traveled the world, but Sally defined home by one thing: family. She led her home by bringing life, stability, creativity, and music everywhere and with everyone she knew, especially her kids, grandkids, and great-grandchildren. She took these values into retirement. Coming into her home was to experience the smell of something freshly baked, spunky conversation, a carefully manicured garden and a “bushel and a peck” of love. Those who knew Sally knew her as a loving wife, mom, grandma, sister and friend. Those who knew her well knew her as the hymn-singing, card-playing, deer-hunting, and forever and always Ron-loving embodiment of love, joy, and charisma.

Sally is survived by her husband, Ronald Sherman Benoit; children, Suzanne Jo Weisshaupt, Ronald Sherman (Cindy) Benoit II, Barbara Ann (Thomas) Lally, and Patricia Lynn Benoit (Troy Wensauer); Sisters, Dorothy (James) Klatt and Mary Brown; brother-in-law Dan (Diane) Benoit; sisters-in-law, Sandy (Gregory) Harrison and Corrine Benoit; 15 grandchildren, 22+ great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in passing are her and Ronald’s parents and many others she knew as “family.”
