Sallie Stevens Kittredge, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Friendship Village. Born in Owosso, MI on January 14, 1929 to Emerson and Ruth Payne Stevens, she became an accomplished pianist at an early age. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Michigan, and taught second grade to support her husband Robert P Kittredge as he began the company Fabri-Kal Corporation. While raising four children, she enjoyed gardening and nature, bridge, tennis, swimming, biking, skiing, theater, travel and music, especially opera.
Her love and support of the performing arts brought her to the boards, volunteer positions and audiences of local theaters and orchestras and she particularly loved following the blossoming careers of high school and college students. She returned to acting after her divorce, and will be remembered for many local performances. If she wasn’t in a performance, she could be found in the audience. None who met her will forget her spark and often irreverent humor. She is survived by children, Rob Deb Kittredge of Vicksburg, Nancy Sid Stockdale of Albuquerque, NM, Marny Kittredge Keith Meyer of Quilicene, WA and John Lani Kittredge of Richland; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a niece, Kat Allen of Seattle, WA.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Nancy Stryker and Steve Stevens and niece Caroline Allen.
