Mrs. Sallie Owens West was born September 19, 1957. She was the daughter of the late Luther Owens Sr., and Pearl Ella Smith. She departed her earthly life on Monday, November 8, 2021, at the Decatur Morgan Hospital-Decatur General Campus.
Sallie confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Grace Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Courtland, AL. She later moved her membership to Wheeler Chapel Church in Courtland, AL. During her faithful membership she served on the usher board, door greeter and choir member. She loved the Lord, her family, church family and friends.
Sallie attended and graduated from Courtland High School in Courtland, AL. She then moved to Michigan and married J. B. West Jr. and to this union three children were born. Later they moved to Hillsboro, AL where J.B. West, Jr., preceded her in death in 1993. She also had four siblings to preceded in death, Alfonso Owens, Sade Latimer, Ida Pearl Robinson and Luther Owens, Jr.
Sallie leaves behind to cherish her memory: three lovely daughters, Tanya White (Justin) of Madison, AL, Celes Hambrick (John) of Madison, AL, Tammie West of Decatur, AL; one son J. B. West III of Decatur, AL; three lovely grandchildren, Zhaden White, Zhennix White and Jaylin Cole; siblings, Mary Ella Gibson of Hillsboro, AL, Essie Dobbins of Decatur, AL, Mattie Benson of Hillsboro, AL, Annie Brown of Fayette, NC, Joe Owens (Maryann) of Hillsboro Clara Grayson (Cedric) of Decatur, AL, Gloria Young (Billy Ray) of Hillsboro, AL and Sandra Wright (Kent) of Hillsboro, AL; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
