Sakhoeum Khim was a spirited sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She passed away suddenly on February 19, 2022 at the age of 77 in Chicago, Illinois.

She was born in Cambodia on March 18, 1944. She married Ban Khim at the age of 18. They remained married until his death on February 27, 2008. They relocated to the United States in 1975. Together they had 8 children, 20 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Sakhoeum was devoted to the preservation of her roots, religion, and culture. She loved cooking for her family and aquired her culinary skills from her husband’s aunt. Some of her specialty dishes were curry and salaw masua. She enjoyed gardening and going to the temple with her husband. She was an avid traveler to Cambodia and visited family and friends there.

As a young woman she was a fisherwoman, farmer, barber, and seamstress. She was detailed-oriented when planning special events. She was especially meticulous while providing haircuts for family members and is infamous for her eggroll making skills.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Ban Khim; son, Daron Khim; and daughter, Channary Khim.
