Sadie E. Hultz passed away January 26, 2010, at the age of 95, with her family by her side.
Sadie was born September 24, 1914 in Hutton Valley, Missouri to Ranzy and Grace Hood. At the age of 6, her family moved to Star, Idaho and later to Caldwell. She graduated from Caldwell High School in 1931. She then attended and graduated from the College of Idaho, where she met her husband, Harold.
She taught school in Emmett and then lived in Hansen, where Harold taught school. In 1940, they began building their home on the farm outside Notus. They did most of the work themselves and moved into the home in 1941. Over the years, they added on and continued to live there for 60 years, until Sadie moved into the PEO Chapter house and then Autumn Winds in Caldwell.
Sadie was a charter member of the Notus Grange, Notus Neighbors, and the Thursday Musicale. She taught piano lessons, was a 4-H leader, and served on the local Election Board for over 40 years.
Before Harold passed away in 1984, they enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Hultz and her companion Ken Bradley of Caldwell, her son Bob and his wife Karen of Notus, her granddaughter Kerry (Kevin) Parker of Spokane, and her grandson Mike of Minot, N.D, and great-grandchildren, Emelia, Eve, Ross, Sam, Max, and Oscar.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents, and her sister Hazel McCandless.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Autumn Winds and Excel Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion during Mom’s last days.
