Sadie DeMaio, 96, of Matawan, passed away on Friday, June 2 surrounded by her loving family.

  Sadie was born in Brooklyn, New York and resided in Matawan for most of her life.

  Sadie was very involved at St. Clement RC Church, Matawan, where she was a CCD teacher and Eucharistic minister. She previously worked as an administrative assistant in the patent department of International Nickel Co,, Wall St, NYC for nearly 30 years.

  Sadie was an expert in Italian cooking, taught by her beloved mother, Tessie. She shared those skills with her entire family and passed on family recipes to all of her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. It was her greatest pleasure.  Sadie and her beloved brother Vincent followed the Brooklyn Dodgers religiously and she watched or listened to the NY Mets games, even the most recent ones, with great interest.  She was also a regular at Rutgers season football games for many years.

  Sadie was predeceased by her father, Albert DeMaio and mother Theresa (Giordano), brother Vincent DeMaio and his wife JoAnne, nephew Jay Jacobson and grand nephew Brian Simmons.

  She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews; Theresa DeMaio of Washington,
DC, Debbie Maciewicz of Red Bank, David DeMaio and his wife Teri of Barnegat, Andrew
DeMaio and his wife Deborah of Holmdel and Catharine O’Brien and her husband Tom of
O’Fallon, Missouri.

  Sadie also leaves behind many cherished grandnieces and nephews and great grand
nieces and nephews.

  She is loved immensely. Her presence and smile will be greatly missed.
